Philanthropy

The Oklahoma State chapter hosts one major philanthropic event each year. In the fall semester we host “Theta Rocks the Casa”. At this event our chapter holds a concert in Stillwater, OK. The performer last fall was the Eli Young Band. All proceeds from entry fees and t-shirt sales benefit the local CASA chapter (Court Appointed Special Advocates), Theta’s national philanthropy.

During the rest of the year our chapter competes in various Greek competitions and contests, the prize money earned also goes towards CASA. This past semester, our chapter received the contributions from both Sigma Chi’s “Derby Days” and Kappa Sigma’s “Krazy Days”. In which both competitions our chapter received first place and benefited CASA with all the proceeds.

In 1989 Kappa Alpha Theta designated Court Appointed Special Advocates as its official philanthropy. CASA recruits volunteers to speak for the best interests of abused and neglected children in the courtroom. Since the inception of CASA advocacy, volunteers have helped well over 1,000,000 children find safe, permanent homes in which they can thrive.
